Our History

We are a 3rd generation farming family in Heath Springs, South Carolina.  My grandfather started raising certified angus beef back in the 1950s, raising and teaching my father to do the same, along with a couple of other farm-life endeavors.  Naturally, they named the place Mungo Farms, as I believe they knew this farm is something our family would continue to love and work hard for, for many more generations following the practices my grandfather instilled in my father.

My father, Devin Mungo, saw a need for a venison processing in our area & in 1991 he opened Mungo's Deer Processing LLC, on the family farm. We love our hunters and look forward to seeing you and your harvests every year! The processing has offered a great deal of sustainability for our family, not just in the sense of a profitable business, but we have also been able to humanely harvest our own beef to live off of for years.

Within the past few years, recent events in the world have caused many market shifts, supply chain issues, and annual meat production capabilities to decline (such as larger processors being unable to hit production targets). This is when we decided we wanted Mungo Farms beef to be available for our community directly from us. We have enjoyed the locally-grown, grass-fed, grain-finished beef we have raised for years, and we want everyone else to have the same opportunity! In 2021, I set my mind to two goals- becoming a USDA state-inspected processing facility and opening a meat market, where we could sell our own locally raised & processed meat.  Because of YOU, that dream is becoming a reality. Thank you for supporting our family business.
